Recipe for Disaster is the 100th Quest Jagex, the creator of Runescape, released on March 15th 2006. Jagex should be commended for a few things with regards to this Quest. First making it in such a way even the lowest level players can have a go at it and second, making a Quest with an ever increasing difficulty for the more experienced player. Truly a Quest to celebrate number 100.
This guide reflects just that: The main Quest is at the top and the subsequent 8 other possibilities come after that. Once you have completed all sub-sections you will enter the Final Battle.
This means this guide consists of 9 individual Quests. In order to gain access to all and more difficult sections the only thing you need to do is to start and finish the main Quest: Recipe For Disaster.
Once finished you will have access to the other eight parts. To see what you finished consult your Quest Journal as this keeps tabs on what part you have done so far. You can complete the additional parts in whatever order you want them to do.
Per section finished there are different rewards yet there is one thing most share: The Culinaromancers' Chest. The function of this Chest is simple: It is a shop. You can buy an ever increasing number of things as you progress through the eight separate Quests. The what and how will be explained in the final notes to this Quest Guide.
Start: Begin by talking to the Cook at Lumbridge Castle
Skills: Level 10 Cooking
Quests: Cook's Assistant.
What You Need: Eye of Newt, Rotten Tomato, Greenman's Ale, 2 Lemons, an Orange, Pineapple, Cocktail Glass, Cocktail Shaker, Knife, and Ashes.
Head to Lumbridge, the red route is the way to walk after a Lumbridge Teleport:
Talk to the Cook and he will tell you he wants to re-create a meal that was cooked by his forefather 100 years ago.
For this he will need 4 ingredients: Eye of Newt, Rotten Tomato, "Dirty Blast" and a Greenman's Ale.
- Eye of Newt can be bought at Betty's Magic store in Port Sarim or Jatix in Taverley.
- Rotten Tomato from Dueling Arena in Al Kharid or at Seers Village and Yanille, bought from crate of rotten tomatoes.
- Greenman's Ale can be bought at Yanille pub.
- Dirty Blast is the only ingredient you need to make yourself. For this you need to talk to Blurberry at the Grand Tree if you did not start the Gnome Food part. A Dirty Blast is a Fruit Blast spoiled with ashes.
Beware: You need to make it yourself, buying from the bar at the Grand Tree or from another player doesn't work. For more information on the Fruit Blast go to the Gnome Food Guide.
Finish this part of the quest by talking to the Cook again.
Rewards:
- 1 Quest Point
- An invitation to a feast
He will tell you to go and look at the meal he prepared.
Here follows a cut-scene which will end in the Varrock Gypsy asking for your help. For next parts of the quest you will need to inspect the people at the table.
Skills: None
Quests: Fishing Contest.
What You Need: Bucket of Milk, Pot of flour, Egg, Bowl of Water, 4 Asgarnian Ales, Gloves, 100gp
Recommended Items: Ice Gloves, Ring of Charos (a).
Upon "inspecting" this is what you get:
Head over to the the tunnels under White Wolf Mountain and go down the stairs. Go to the place where you can pick up the Dwarven Stouts and talk to "an old dwarf".
He will tell you he will never give his recipe for rock cake: "not for all the ale of the Rising Sun". Now head for Falador pub and talk to Emily and ask her about Dwarfs and beer. She can be bribed into giving the recipe for Asgarnian Ale the Dwarves like (with a Ring of Charos (a): use a coin on it and it will turn into Asgoldian Ale.
You will need four of these ales to get Rohak (yes he did get a name after you first spoke to him) to make you the Rock Cake. For a price of 100gp, he will tell you the ingredients, which are: Milk, flour, an egg and a bowl of water.
Bring the ingredients to Rohak (and bring any Gloves - Ice Gloves would be best). He will make you a Rock cake, and will put it on the table next to you. It is hot - if you didn't bring Gloves, it will burn you (2 damage) and you'll need to regather the ingredients. Before you return to the banquet and free the Mountain Dwarf, you will need to cool down the Rock Cake. If you used Ice Gloves to pick the cake up, you're in luck because that will have cooled it down sufficiently. If you used a different type of Glove, you will need to return to the Gypsy. She will tell you to go to Ice Mountain, where you will find a new monster: a level 13 Icefiend.
Now go to Ice Mountain where you need to kill a level 13 Icefiend. His dying breath will cool your Rock Cake.
Now head back to Lumbridge again and enter the dining room once again. Use the now cool Rock Cake with the Dwarf and you will have saved the Mountain Dwarf.

What You Need: Charcoal, Spice (or Gnome Spice), 1 Fishing Bait, a Bucket (or a Jug or Bowl) of Water, Bread, Orange Slices, Green, Blue or Purple Dye.

Talk to him and he will tell you he needs Charcoal.
You can obtain Charcoal by either buying it from the shop in Tai Bwo Wannai, or by cutting a Dead Tree (one of the black ones) in the Wilderness. you only need one Charcoal, and once you have it head back to the Goblin Cook and give it to him. He will start his recipe that includes sulphur...
Disaster strikes...
After this blows he is more than happy and will give you the list of ingredients he needs to make the recipe both the Goblin Generals like.
- Colored orange slices: Use knife with orange, choose slices then use either green, blue or purple dye with them. Easiest way to get dyes: Lleyta clothes shop sells all colors otherwise have Aggie in Draynor make you the color you want. There is also a Purple Dye respawn south of the Carnillean Mansion in the southwest corner of Ardounge.
- Maggots that aren't bland: Use spice with fish bait and you will get Spicy Maggots, Spice can be bought or stolen from the Spice Stall in Ardougne.
- Bread that isn't crunchy: Use bread with a bowl of water and you will get Soggy Bread.
Head back to Goblin Village and give the ingredients to the Goblin Cook. He will make a "Slop of Compromise" from it and hand it to you: Back to Lumbridge. Enter the dining room once more and use the "Slop" with one of the generals. Congratulations, part 3 is finished.

Go to Murphy and ask him about the quest. He will tell you that you need to make some breathing equipment so you can search for the Crab and Kelp under the sea. He will tell you that you need to bring him a Fishbowl. Get a Fishbowl by either Crafting it yourself or buying it off another player. Bring it back to him and he will give you a Diving Apparatus and Fishbowl Helmet.

Note: Murphy will not let you dive if you're carrying more than 27kg of weight, or if you have a cat with you.
Talk to Nung and he will tell you that you can only enter the cage and get some Crab meat if you get him 5 "Skippy Skins". Head to the north-west corner and collect five of the Rocks that are on the floor. Enter the Underwater Cavern Entrance to the north and kill 5 of the Mudskippers. When they die they will drop Mudskipper Hides. Collect 5 of these and head back to Nung. He will tell you he wants to make these into a piece of clothing.

When you bring them to him you will have to enchant them. To enchant the Egg you will be shown different NPC's you may have come across and you must name 3 in a row for the Egg to be enchanted. For each NPC you will be given a list of 5 names and you must select the correct one.
To enchant the Milk you will have to complete a quiz. You will have to answer 3 questions about Runescape correctly for the Milk to be enchanted. The answers will mainly be numbers, but having access to the World Map and various Runescape guides would help while doing this.
The enchant the Flour you will be shown a selection of items. You will have to memorize what the items are then answer a question about them. You will have to answer a question about 3 sets of items correctly in a row. This is one example of what the selection of items may look like.

You will have a Raw Guide Cake. Cook the cake to get a Cake of Guidance. Back to the dining room, use the Cake of Guidance on the Guide and yet another part of this Quest is finished.
Rewards:
- 1 Quest Point
- 2,500 Cooking Experience
- 2,500 Magic Experience
- Increased access to the Culinaromancers' Chest
Skills: 25 Cooking
Quests: Gertrude's Cat and Shadow of the Storm.
What You Need: Any type of Cat or Kitten, and some Stews.
To free Evil Dave you will have to get him a type of stew.
Go to the house in the West of Edgeville. Doris is inside this house. Open the trapdoor and climb down. Once in there talk to Evil Dave. When there is an option of things to choose, choose the one that says: "You've got to tell me because the magic requires it!" He will tell you that he had a stew at the meeting that was like his mother made, but the quantities were different. Head back upstairs and talk to Doris. She will say the Hell-Rats have stolen her herbs. Head back downstairs with a Kitten or Cat. Interact with it and tell it to "Chase-Vermin". It may fail, but just keep on trying. When you kill a Rat it can drop a Spice and some Ashes, pick up the Spices.
The Spices you need are:
- Red Spice
- Yellow Spice
- Brown Spice
- Orange Spice
Make a Stew by filling a bowl with water, using a potato with it and finally using some cooked meat with it. Cook it on a fire then add the spices. The quantities of spices required vary from person to person.
Hint: If you don't want to make the stew yourself, you can buy one from the pub in Seers' Village, the shop in the Warriors' Guild (100gp each), or you can get one from your Maid if you own a Player Owned House. of course, you will still need to add spices to it afterwards.
Talk to Evil Dave and ask him to taste the "Spicy Stew". If the ingredients are correct he will say so. To get the amount of spices right can be a hassle, the only sure way to find out is to go from one color spice to the next and only at the end combine the 4 colors For instance: If you use 1 Brown spice on a stew and let Dave taste it he might tell you you got one spice right. That would mean you need 1 Brown spice in the finished Spicy Stew. Do this color after color and you will get it right in the end.
Head back to Lumbridge and use the Stew with him.
Rewards:
- 1 Quest Point
- 7,000 Cooking Experience
- Ability to make Spicy Stew
- Ability for your Cat or Kitten to turn into a Hellcat To change the cat back to normal feed him some milk

What You Need: Ogre or Brutal arrows, Ogre bow or Ogre Composite, Ogre bellows, a pickaxe, a tinderbox, any kind of log, a woodcutting axe, an iron spit, a ball of wool.
After you inspect Skrach Uglogwee the Gypsy will tell you to get a Jubbly Chompy to un-freeze him. She also tells you to talk to rantz.
Head to the Feldip Hills and talk to rantz. Rantz wants to go to the north-east. Talk to him again and he will tell you to walk south-east near the cabbage re-spawn. Go there and talk to Rantz again. He will tell you how to get the Jubbly if you do him a favor. He wants both the children to go to Karamja. He will shoot an arrow in that direction.
Now you will need to make a boat. Use your axe on the tree Rantz has pulled out of the ground. Do this twice: The first time you cut off the roots the second time you hollow the tree into a Crude Boat. Kill a few Chompy Birds, (you need just one cooked but you can fail). For those who forgot what bait to use: Take your Ogre Bellows and head for the swamp to the west. Use the Bellow on the bubbles. Then use the Ogre Bellows (3) on Swamp Toads. Talk to Rantz againm so that he will shoot your bow once.
Now head for Karamja and walk south along the coast, past the general store until you come to a tree with the arrow Rantz shot sticking out of its trunk. Use your iron spit with the Chompy Bird and make a fire in the exact spot as in the picture.
Cook the Chompy Bird and the two children will arrive in the boat you made. Accept the offer for a lift back and talk to Rantz again. He will now tell you how to kill the Jubbly Bird.
A bit north-west there is a mining area. Mine some rocks until you have three rocks in your inventory. Next head to the swamp and use the Ogre Bellows to get three Bloated Swamp Toads. With your ball of wool and rocks in your inventory use the Ogre Bellows on the Bloated Swamp Toads: You will now get Balloon Toadies the bait for the Jubbly Bird.
Place the bait a bit south of the area Rantz uses to hunt Chompy Birds. Wait for the Jubbly Bird to come out and kill it. Pluck it, take the bird and go to the Spit Roast close to Rantz. Cook the Jubbly and head back to Lumbridge. Enter the dining room and use the Jubbly with Skrach Uglogwee. Congratulations part 7 finished.

Quests: Must have started the Legends Quest.
What You Need : Ice Gloves, Pestle and Mortar, Bucket of Milk, Pot of Cream, Cornflower, Cinnamon, Vanilla Pod (Found in Kharazi Jungle),Raw Chicken and the Egg of the Evil Chicken.
After inspecting Sir Amik Varze talk to the Lumbridge Cook and ask him how you saved Sir Amik Varze, he will tell you what ingredients you need to make the Supreme Brulee.
Obtaining the items for the Supreme Brulee:
- Milk & Cream - From the Culinaromancers' Chest in the basement you can obtain both the Milk and the Cream. Beware though, you can only use the Chest if you have finished other parts of the Quest. Should this be the first part you try then it is impossible.
- Cornflower - To make Cornflower you will need to grow or buy Sweetcorn and use it in a Flour Mill. The one closest to Lumbridge is to the north on the west bank of The River Lum.
- Vanilla Pod - The Vanilla Pod can be found by Searching Vanilla plants found slightly South-West of the Pool in the middle of the Kharazi Jungle.
- Cinnamon - Cinnamon can be made by using your Pestle and Mortar with a branch from the Dramen Tree, found in the dungeon of Entrana.
- Evil chicken Egg - First talk to the Wise Old Man of Draynor. Ask him about Strange Beasts and then about The Evil Chicken. He will tell you to Zanaris. Got to Draynor bank, take out your Dramen Staff and a raw chicken and head to Zanaris. When you enter you will see the Evil Chicken Shrine.
Use the raw chicken with this shrine and you will be teleported into the Evil Chickens Lair which is guarded by level 227 Black Dragons. Run past these and you will find the Evil Chicken near its nest.
Now kill Evil Chicken and he will drop the Evil Chicken Egg, pick this up go back to the Black Dragons and prepare for battle. It would be wise to use Protect from Melee an Anti-Fire Potion and of course your trusted Firebreath Shield when fighting Black Dragons, at level 227 these can be a handful. When you have killed one Dragon among the drops you will see a Dragon Token. Take it and leave to finish your Brulee.
Completing the Brulee:
1. Use a Bucket of Milk with a Pot of Cream
2. Use Cornflower with the Milky Mixture
3. Add the Vanilla Pod into the Mixture to create Unfinished Brulee
4. Add the Evil Chickens Egg to the mixture
5. Add the Cinnamon to the mixture to create Brulee
6. While wearing Ice Gloves or an Anti-Dragonfire Shield, rub the Dragon Token to be transported to the Fairy Dragon K'klik who will happily flambé your Brulee.
Take your Brulee back to the Lumbridge Castle Dining Room, use it on Sir Amik Varze and you have finished part 8.
Rewards:
Skills: 70 Cooking and Level 48 Agility.
Quests: Monkey Madness.
What You Need : About 200gp, a Rope, a Knife, Pestle and Mortar, M'speak amulet, 3 different Monkey Greegrees (Monkey Guard, Ninja or Archer Monkey and the Zombie Monkey)
Recommended Items : A good weapon, and some food.
Recommended Skills: Higher agility helps.
After "inspecting" Awowogei the Gypsy tells you to speak to Awowogei to find his favorite food. Get a monkey greegree and your M'speak amulet and go to Ape Atoll. Awowogei is located in the house south of the Temple. He will not tell you what his favorite food is and only three other Monkeys know. Head for the north-west corner of the temple to the north and you will find the three monkeys who know what food Awowogei likes, Iwazaru who cant speak, Kikuzaru who cant hear and Mizaru who can't see.
Mizaru tells you that Awowogei likes a banana and monkey nuts inside a giant snake skin. Now go buy a banana and monkey nuts from the food store. Next, head back to crash island and from there head east to find a hole not far from the glider. Go down this hole and kill one of the level 84 Giant Snakes and take its corpse, turning on Protect from Melee before you enter is advised.
Head back to the three monkeys and Iwazaru "tells" you that you need a red banana, not a yellow one. He says that they grow on the western part of the island.
Head all the way to the westernmost part of the island and you should see a banana tree with red bananas. The tree is too spiky to climb, so you need to use a rope to get one. Once you have your rope, get a Monkey Guard Greegree, wield it and use the rope with the tree.
You will get a Red Banana - drop this and use the rope with the tree to get another. Pick up the first banana, and then go back to Mizaru to give him one of the bananas.
Talk to them again and they now tell you, you don't have the right kind of monkey nuts, only the best nuts can be used.
Head south until you come to a small hut with a vine coming to it. Go south-west until you reach an agility obstacle course.
Turn into the Ninja or Archer monkey, cross the stone, climb up the tree, go across the monkey bars, across the skull path, and finally swing on the vine over the river. You will come to a hut with a hole in it, go down and you will find the bush. Pick on of the nuts from the bush, drop it and take another. Then pick the first nut up and bring it to Mizaru.
Talk to them again and Kikuzaru is asleep so you must translate. Iwazaru tells you to go beneath the temple and he gestures death and zombies. Once you go down there is a small crack labeled "Exit" that you must go into. There is a small patch of lava that will do constant 1 damage. In order to defeat this you must become a Zombie Monkey and you can cross.
Once across use a knife with the banana, a pestle and mortar with the nuts and use them with the snake. You now have a raw snake. Use it on the hot rock and it should be cooked (this can fail, so be careful, when you examine a failed attempt it can say two things: burnt or over-cooked).
Head back to Lumbridge and use the cooked snake with Awowogei. Congratulations, part 9 finished.
Rewards:
- 10,000 Cooking exp
- 10,000 Agility exp
- Ability to use the Ape Atoll teleportation spell (Requires 64 magic, 2 law runes, 2 fire runes, 2 water runes, and one banana)
Skills: Ability to fight high-leveled monsters.
Quests: 175 Quest Points, Desert Treasure, Horror From the Deep (plus all previously listed quests).
What You Need: Equipment for fighting, food, Stat Restore Potions.
When you have rescued all members of the council you will then be shown a small cutscene where the Culinaromancers' declares his vengeance and then vanishes into a portal and of course, you have to follow him into it and defeat him - once and for all.
When you click the portal to enter it you will be warned by the Gypsy that your Prayers will not work. But that you can leave at any time.
You will have to face 5 different high-leveled monsters in this part of the Quest and the Culinaromancer himself. Should you die while fighting these, you will lose your stuff, except for the normal three items. For those entering with full Barrows: Protect Item doesn't work, nor do any other prayer. After you have defeated one boss you can leave to restock on items and return to take on the next boss. One big hint: The Culinaromancers' Chest contains weapons that are cooking-related.
Boss 1, Agrith-Na-Na
Agrith-Na-Na uses a melee attack that is quite weak. Hardly any food is used here. Armor Rune and above along with a decent weapon is recommended.
Boss 2, Flambeed
Flambeed is a giant Hot Rock Cake and if you do not use Ice Gloves you will not be able to use a weapon against him. He uses a pretty weak melee attack that shouldn't cause much damage.
Boss 3, Karamel
Karamel is where things get a little tricky, she uses an Ice Barrage that lowers your stats. Wearing Dragonhide should stop their Ice Barrages from hitting you too much and if you drink your Stat Restore Potions wisely, Karamel will eventually be defeated.
Boss 4, Dessourt
Dessourt uses a mixture of Melee and Mage. He will constantly do damage up to double 5. His Magic doesn't hit very often but a mix of a Rune Platebody and Dragonhide Chaps could work to your advantage.
Boss 5, Gelatinnoth Mother
This should bring back memories of Horror from the Deep: once again a combination of color change and attack type that needs to be used. The Gelatinnoth Mother shouldn't be too hard. You will need all forms of combat to defeat this monster. Wearing a Mystic Robe Top with Dragonhide/Rune legs is effective. The Gelatinnoth Mother takes damage according to what color she changes to. The color code follows:
Ranged attacks only when her color is green
Water spells only when her color is blue
Fire spells only when her color is red
Earth spells only when her color is brown
Air spells only when her color is white
Melee attacks only when her color is orange.
After you have defeated the Gelatinnoth Mother, the Culinaromancer will get pretty angry and try to take you on himself. However, this will be the least of your worries, as at level 75 he is not much of a threat
Decent armor and weapon will make sure that the Culinaromancer dies. When he dies, his head will mutate and a variety of foods will spin out of his body.
The Gypsy will now congratulate you and you will be sent back to the Dining Room where you will be rewarded.
Congratulations! You have finished a Recipe for Disaster.
Rewards:
