Runescape Mini-Games: Wilderness Mage Arena

==>All Runescape Guide List<==

==>Runescape Mini-Games Guide List<==

The Mage Arena is located deep in the Wilderness, and it requires that you have at least level 60 Magic. You'll find a deadly Wizard there, and after defeating him you'll have the ability to obtain God Capes and God Staffs, used to cast more powerful spells!

Getting Started

You'll find the Mage Arena in the deep level 55 Wilderness, just beyond the gate separating Freeplay and Members' Wilderness. I'd suggest against walking all the way there, as the Wilderness is a dangerous place and there's no telling if there's a Pull LeverPKer out there waiting to attack you.

Instead of walking, head to East Ardougne. There's a house just northwest of the Ardougne Castle with a lever inside that will teleport you to the Wilderness when pulled. Beware, if the door is already open, it's likely that someone has already been there and is waiting for a kill in the Wilderness. Before pulling the lever, be sure to bring a sharp weapon such as a Sword or Axe!

Pull the lever and you'll find yourself in level 51 Wilderness. Head north for a bit and you should find a Web blocking the way. You'll need a Machete, Hatchet or any other sharp weapon to slash through, and once it's been cut just go through. Walk west until you find the large arena, and if you see any PKers quickly switch to another world. A good place to switch is just south of the arena, as no one goes there.

Mage Arena Map

At the northern end of the arena is a destroyed house with 2 webs inside. Cut them and pull the lever to find yourself in a cave that is safe from attacks.

The Mage Arena

Once inside the cave, you'll find that there are 3 NPCs for you to talk to:

  • Gundai - He is a banker and will allow you to access your bank.
  • Lundail - He sells all Runes, except for Blood and Soul.
  • Kolodion - He will be your opponent in the Mage Arena once you are ready.

The 3 NPCs you can talk to

Mage Arena Rules

Of course, there are certain rules to be followed in the Mage Arena.

  • First, you need at least level 60 Magic to enter.
  • You can bring any type of armor or weapon into the arena, but you can only use magical attacks; not ranged or melee.

Get Ready to Fight!

Once you're ready, speak to Kolodion. If you're not sure on what items you should take with you, here are some tips:

  • Monk Robes or Zamorak Robes - for Magic and Prayer.
  • An Elemental or Mystic Staff (Air, Water, Earth or Fire), depending on what spell you'll be using.
  • Runes - Chaos or Death are your best options. If you have enough Deaths, use Fire Blast and you should be OK. You'll also need the other Runes (Air, Water, Earth, Fire, etc.) depending on which spell you wish to use.
  • Prayer Potions - several 4-dose potions should be fine.
  • Food - if you bring enough Prayer Potions, you really don't need much, if any at all. But bring some just in case something goes wrong!
  • Holy Symbol or Magic Amulet.
  • God Book - gives +5 to Prayer. If you happen to die, you can get it back with any pages that you had by speaking to Jossik at the Lighthouse.
  • Gnome Hat - for a Magic bonus.

Speak to Kolodion when you're ready and you'll be teleported to the Mage Arena.

5 Forms of Kolodion

You must fight 5 different monsters in a row. Just put Protect From Magic on and fight him!

First Form - Kolodion

The first form is easy to defeat, and if you're strong enough you may not even need Protect From Magic.

You must prove yourself... now!

Second Form - Ogre

More difficult than the first form, and you'll probably want to use your Protect From Magic Prayer from this battle until the end.

This is only the beginning, you can't beat me!

Third Form - Giant Spider

This form will use even more powerful Magic.

Kulodion's 3rd form

Fourth Form - Ghost

Much like the third form, the Ghost form will hit hard without your Protect From Magic Prayer. You're almost there, keep going!

Kulodion's 4th form

Fifth Form - Black Demon

Be prepared for a fight, as this form has lots of hits and will cast strong spells.

Kulidion's final form!

Choosing A God

Once you've defeated all 5 forms of Kolodion, you will be teleported back to the cave. Step into the Sparkling Pool and you'll be teleported again. There you'll find the Chamber Guardian. Talk to him and he will tell you that you must now choose a God of RuneScape, who you will fight for. Go a bit further north and you'll see statues of the 3 main RuneScape Gods.

Saradomin - God of WisdomSaradomin staffSaradomin cape

Pray at Statue of Saradomin

Guthix - God of Nature, Peace & BalanceGuthix staffGuthix cape

Pray at Statue of Guthix

Zamorak - God of ChaosZamorak staffZamorak Cape

Pray at Statue of Zamorak

Pray at your favorite God to receive a God Cape which gives +10 to your Magic Attack and Defense Bonus. Go back to the Chamber Guardian and he will give you a staff of your chosen God for free. You can buy the other staffs from him for 80,000gp each.

If you ever decide on training a new spell, you'll need the cape of the same God. Simply drop your current cape and pray at another God's statue to receive a new cape.

Back to the Mage Arena

Walk through Mystic PortalIf you wish to use your new Magic spell outside of the arena, you'll need to train. To get back to the Mage Arena, you must use the Mystic Portal. After casting the spell 100 times, Kolodion will tell you that you are experienced enough with that spell and you'll be able to use it outside of the Mage Arena.

Inside the arena are Mages that fight for their god. If you wield a God's staff, the Mages that don't follow that god will attack you. Note that you can also be PKed while training.

Since you must cast your God spell 100 times before having the ability to use it anywhere, you'll need 200 Blood Runes. However, you can still wield your staff outside of the arena.

Runescape Mini-Games: TzHaar Fight Pit

==>All Runescape Guide List<==

==>Runescape Mini-Games Guide List<==

The TzHaar Fight Pits, located below the Volcano of Karamja, is full of death. It's a game much like Castle Wars, although it more of an "every-man-for-himself" type of game where even your friends will be forced to turn on you in the heat of battle!

The Basics

Although this mini-game may be considered simple to play, you should know a few things before charging in there for battle.

Getting There

The Fight Pit is located beneath the Karamja Volcano, in the TzHaar City. You can either teleport or take a boat to Karamja, and then just climb down into the Volcano. Near the entrance to the Volcano should be a Cave Entrance, which will bring you to the city.

Entrance

The City

Before actually starting the game, you'll probably want to check out the city. You'll find that there is a bank in the northern part of the city, to the west of the cave entrance. There are also various shops for Runes (up to Death), all types of Ores and Gems (even Dragonstone!), and the new Toktz and TzHaar weapons. There's even a Lava Forge for smelting ores, and a Sulphur Vent for cooking food.

The Game

The mini-game starts in the northwest section of the city, although you may have to wait a bit until the next fight starts. Until then, you can look through the Viewing Orb to watch the progress of the battle.

Look into viewing orb

There aren't really any rules to this game, but here are a few things to know:

  • You can't attack until your are told to do so.
  • Any items can be brought into the Fight Pit, from weapons and armor, to food and other items.
  • There are no teams. Even if you decide to team up with someone, if you manage to last until the end, you'll be forced to fight in order to end the battle.
  • If you die in the pit, you don't lose anything.

The Fight Pit

Once you're ready, go inside the waiting room with everyone else and wait until the current fight is over. Once you're told to fight, it's basically you-against-everyone-else. Of course, it starts out "easy," with only other players attacking, but naturally it will get more difficult after awhile.

Monsters

If the round starts to drag on, you'll see that monsters will begin to appear.

Tz-Kih

Tz-kih

They're the strange flaming bat-like things.

Tz-Kek

Tz-Kek

These are the stronger blob-like monsters that come out after the bat-like ones.

Tok-Xil

Tok-Xil

These monsters are much stronger than the others and they will use both Ranged and Melee attacks.

Note: If the battle goes far beyond a certain amount of time, which currently appears to be 40 minutes, everyone remaining in the pit will start taking damage.

Champions

At the top-center of the screen, you'll see the current Champion and the number of foes remaining. The JaylYt-ket (Champion) is defined as Powerful and Strong.

Current Champion

TokKulIf you are the Champion, you will get a Red Skull above your head and be forced to play the next battle. Champions are rewarded with the TzHaar's Tokul (money) to spend on weapons and items spread throughout the city. The amount of Tokul is based on the number of enemies you kill and their combat level. So for example, if you killed 20 enemies that were level 100, you'd get 2,000 Tokul.

Champion

This is why it is pointless to team, as you will end up facing each other, so it will be friend against friend and enemy against friend in the pit. The game ends when there is only 1 player left standing.

Toktz & TzHaar Weapons

The new TzHaar and Toktz weapons can be bought from the TzHaar-Hur-Tel's Equipment Store in the eastern part of the city. You can only buy these weapons with Tokul, which is rewarded by being the Champion of the fight, or from killing the monsters in the Fight Pit.

Method For Fighting

If you can, drink 1 dose of each potion in a super set before entering, but do not bring the set inside the caves as it will take up space. This will increase your stats for about 15 minutes. Use Guthans only on the level 22s, 45s, and 90s. Keep using Guthans for the first part of Caves, until you reach the 180s. When the 180 waves begin, hide in the middle of the Italy rock. It is located to the east, and shaped like its name. The 180s will be stuck, and you can use range against them. Put your bow on accurate, as you are in no hurry. Be sure to kill the 22s and 90s before killing the 180s, and get the 180s stuck behind the monster you're killing. It can heal itself, and other monsters if you are in its melee range. It can also hit in the mid-20s.

Once you see two 180s in one wave, (one oddly colored), be sure to drink some prayer potion doses, but not too much that you skip some points by maxing it out. Drink a range potion dose. Be sure to drink a ranging potion dose as soon as your range returns to the normal level, but be sure to keep at least one dose left for the final wave. Before you kill the 180, put the Protect From Mage Prayer on. Turn your bow to rapid and attack the 360s. When more monsters come out, keep the 180s and 45s behind the 360 you're killing. You should always kill the 22s first because they drain your prayer, and the 90s next because can hit a lot with their range attack. Drink a prayer dose every time your prayer goes under about 20 or more points of your normal prayer level.

If you do get hurt badly, be sure to drink one super restore dose for every two Sara brew doses.

Wave 62, two level 360s will appear. Kill one of the 360s, and start killing the other one. Switch to your best bow (your newest crystal bow or Karil Crossbow). When the last 360 reaches about half health, you need to get ready for the last wave. Drink two doses of Saradomin Brew to increase your health and defense. After you have done that, drink a super restore pot dose, and then drink a ranging dose after you have restored your stats. Max out your prayer with prayer potions. Jad takes about 2-3 prayer pots (4) to kill. Turn on auto-retaliate and get ready. You should either stand in the middle of the arena or stay on the north wall of the Italy rock while killing the 360. Once you kill the last 360, a message will come up saying Jad has entered.

Attack Order:

22, 90, 360, 180, 45

Level 702 Boss:

This is the ultimate challenge. You have waited about 2 to 2.5 hours to get here, and it's all up to whether or not you can kill this beast.

Jad's first attack can be range or magic. Most of the time he attacks with magic first. Use protect from magic. Jad can max his hits all the way to 99, so be very cautious.

His Attack Stances:

  • His magic attack will show him lifting his two front legs high in the air and holding them. Switch to protect from magic.
  • His range attack shows him quickly bringing down his front two legs, smashing them into the ground. Switch to protect from range.

At half health, four healers will come out and dedicate themselves to healing Jad. When you have the correct prayer on for Jad, try to hit all of the healers, making them follow you, but still pay attention to Jad's attacks. If you kill any of them, they will keep spawning in groups of 4.

Now, there are two ways you can approach the healers from attacking you. First, you can line them up, making the first one in the line attack you, while using the Steel Skin prayer. The second way is to wait for Jad to start a magic attack. After he has initiated the attack, run straight through Jad opposite of you were before, making the healers stuck behind the 702 and not having them attack you.

Pay attention to your prayers, prayer points, and health. In minutes, you'll have a legendary Fire Cape and 8,000 TokKul. You will get about 4,000 TokKul if you die at Jad.

You won at the fight caves!

Saving your Progress

What This Means

Many people think that in order to complete the Fight Caves (2 – 3 hours long) they need 2 – 3 hours straight time on the computer. This is NOT true. Of course, it is recommended that you do fight caves when you have straight time but you can also do it without. You can save your progress so when you log back in you will be on the same wave.

How to Save

During a wave, click the log out button only ONCE. Clicking it twice will result in you logging out without saving your progress. Once you have clicked it, you will get a message in the chat box saying:

Your log out request has been received, and after this wave you will be logged out with your progress saved.

  • If you click log out BEFORE the end of the wave you will log out, without saving the progress.
  • If you click log out AFTER the end of the wave you will log out, with saving the progress

Once you have finished the wave and you were not being attacked for the last 10 seconds you will log out. If you were being attacked you will have to wait 10 seconds, then click log out. NOTE: There will be no other wave coming until you log out and log back in.

Also, never leave the cave when logging out or you will have to start over again.

Danger?

It is recommended not to log out after the 360s start coming, as when you log in, you will be in the center of the cave with another wave ready to attack you. If your hp is below 50, then you can be killed. So as soon as you log in, be prepared to go to your prayer box, and turn on your Protection from Magic prayer.

Waves Not to Log Off After

Do NOT log off between these waves:

  • Wave 42 – 45 ( 360s, 90s, 45s, and 22s)
  • Wave 57 – 63 ( 360s, 180s, 90s, 45s and 22s)

Especially during wave 62 and 63. If you log in and two 360s from wave 62 hit you like two 40s, you will probably be dead. If you log in during the last wave (wave 63), the boss, Tok-jad, will kill you in 1 hit! So try not to log off during those waves.
