Runescape Quest Guide: Darkness of Hallowvale (Myreque Part 3)

Runescape Quest Start: Begin by speaking to Veliaf Hurtz in the Myreque base camp in Burgh De Rott.


Runescape Skills: 5 Construction, 20 Mining, 22 Thieving, 26 Agility, 32 Crafting, 33 Magic, and 40 Strength.


Quests: In Aid of the Myreque (Myreque Part 2).


What You Need: 2 Planks, 8 Nails, Hammer, Telegrab Runes.


Recommended Items: A good Weapon, a few energy pots and food, your own Knife, A Teleport (Ectophial Or Kharyll), Silver Sickle (If you want), A Pickaxe.




Getting Started


Veliaf Hurtz

Begin by going to speak with Veliaf in the New Myreque hideout at the basement of the Burgh De Rott Inn. Ask him if there's anything you can do to help out. Afterwards, Ask him the last option to start the quest.


After repairing it, push the boat down the ramp.

Get your planks and nails ready, and head south of town until you find a large dock with a boat on it. Use a plank on the boat. Now, look at the boat chute and use a plank on it. Push the boat down the ramp, and board it.


Your new location.

You should be relocated near some ruined walls. Be careful here, DO NOT ATTACK the Vyrewatch, as they are invulnerable to all weapons! They won't attack you, though. If they decide to take your blood, choose to distract them. However, this may not always work, and they will drain life from you. You can also purchase citizen or Vyrewatch clothes from Trader Sven. The clothes will allow you to pass unnoticed from the Vyrewatch more often.


At this point, just keep running on the wall to the North, until you get to the sections of the wall where there are some planks


Kick the planks.

Search the first section, and kick it down. Go Down. A little tad north you should see a few rubble that go over the wall and on to the city. Climb them. Talk to any citizen, and ask them about the Myreque twice (WHISPER!). After, they should point you to Old Man Ral.


Meiyerditch Citizen

The City is HUGE. It's very easy to get lost in here, so pay attention to your surrounding and following instructions closely. Here's a map that could be very useful while you do the quest:

To Find old man Ral, go a little bit north. He is located in this building:

When you speak to him, he will ask you how they call him. Call him the Sage of the Sanguinesti. Tell him that you need to find some "Hidden" people, And then tell him you need to contact the Myreque. He will tell you that you need to head to sector 3, and that it is a hard route.

He tells you to follow the Sickle Logos:

Begin by climbing the ladder in the house south-west of Old Man Ral.

Now begins the Agility course. Beware: Most ladders are misleading, so follow the instructions carefully. While on Rooftops, you should observe for awkward things and walls. Right Click everything you see if you are lost. Also, for jumping parts, be on the watch for Breaches on the walls on the minimap, and also look for buildings close to one another (As demonstrated in the below figure).


Agility Course


Now, go under the wall straight after, and you should see a bed and a sick logo. Push the wall near the bed, and cross it. Climb Down the ladder, and you should see 2 tables. Search them, and one of them has a trapdoor under it. Open it, climb under it, and you should be in yet another house (The one with the logo painted on it). You should see some shelves (Keep on the lookout for these) near a logo, climb them. Upstairs, crawl under the east wall, and then jump to the next roof. Climb down the ladder. To the east you should see another logo, a few pots and a locked door. Search the Pots and open the door with the key you have just found.


Climb the next ladder, then jump to the next roof to the south, and head south and look for some more shelves that you can climb up. Head all the way to the top, and there should be a building to the south. Jump there, head down until you see a washing line and cross it. Head down the ladder, and push the northern wall and cross it. Head a bit north until you see more shelves (They are located on the outside wall of the building), climb them. On that rooftop, there should be more shelves to climb down on the north-east corner. Head north, and jump to the roof. Keep jumping ahead, until you find another logo and 2 ladders. The one that leads down is broken... Climb the one that leads up, and search the west wall for a ladder top. Use the ladder top with the broken ladder. Go Down. Head north until you find a building like this:

Climb the ladder, jump to the next building, go down the ladder and search the Wall. You will need a Knife to go in there. If you brought your own, you can proceed straight ahead.



Knife Spawn: On a table upstairs of the room with the fireplace and portrait. It's one ladder away from where it's first used.

You will now be In the room with an Odd tapestry on the floor and a sickle on the wall. Push the sickle and search the rug. You should find a hidden staircase. Climb down, and head north to find Vertida Sefalatis. Talk to him, and tell him you where sent by Veliaf. He should give you a Message to deliver to Veliaf.

You can teleport or make your way back through the city. I suggest using the Ectophial. Go back to the Inn in Burgh De Rott, and give your message to Veliaf. He will tell you that the situation is dire, and that odd things are happening at Paterdomus as well. He will suggest calling aid from King Roald of Varrock. He will ask you to go speak with Drezel, in the Salve temple, Paterdomus.

Speak with Drezel, and select all possible options. He will tell you about strange noises... Go outside to the West, and search the bush patches on the south side of the road.


Shadowy Figure

You will get bashed, and you will see a short cinematic of two werewolves discussing with each other. Go back inside the temple and speak with Drezel Again. He will tell you to go speak with Roald and will give you a Varrock Teleport to get there faster.


I have for some time now been helping a collection of brave freedom fighters

Speak with the king, and you should be able to explain a lot of the current situation to him, however, his advisor keeps arguing that they cannot do anything without asking the Saradominist church and disrupting the balance set by Guthix. He says that another god war will ensue if they send an army immediately. After the long discussion, ask him every possible options.


You will need to return to Veliaf. Roald will ask his advisor to teleport you to Paterdomus. Accept. Talk with Drezel again and explain to him the current situation. You may ask him what the Guthix edicts are, and you may also proceed by asking him what to do next. Head to Veliaf. Explain to him that you got attacked near the temple and that Roald cannot send troops. You must head back to the Meiyerditch Hideout.


Take the small boat to Meiyerditch again. This time, you don't have to go all the way through the city, there is a shortcut there... If you want, bring your own pickaxe for this part. And If you don't have one, talk to one of the miners they will give you a bronze one for free. Walk around and draw the Attention of one of the Vyrewatch. Ask them to send you into the mines.


Mining

Daeyalt OreIn the mines, you have to mine 15 Daeyalt Ores and put them in the cart in order to get out. The Daeyalt Walls contain 3 Ores each. And they mine pretty fast too. (More details about the ore at the bottom of the guide) Once you have done that, speak with one of the Juvinate guards, and you will be relocated in the northernmost part of the city. Now, just head south to the building that you used to climb and jump to the next roof to go back to the hideout.


Talk with Vertida Again, and tell him what happened. He will tell you to Seek Safalaan, who is gone to sketch the Drakan castle. He will tell you that he took the wall route.

Ask him every other options, and he will tell you he needs to go to the wall, and he will lead you there. Accept. You will be near Old Man Ral's house. Go south, and climb over the wall rubble that lets you go in the city again. Go up the wall. Now that you are up on the wall again, Run north until you see a ladder. Climb down.

Push the Odd stone on the East wall, and go through the secret barricade. Head north, climb the ladder, run north until you see another ladder, climb up, go to the next ladder, climb down. Now, run north until you find Safalaan. He is near a Dome and intersection on the wall.


Tell him about Both the King and your attack on the temple. He will tell you he needs to run off to the base, and ask him if you can help in any way. He will tell you to sketch the Castle, and he will give you papyrus and charcoal. He tells you that Old Man Ral can give you more. You must have 4 empty inventory slots in order to receive his items.

Now, head west on the other type of wall, then on up on the north wall until you see a Floor Sickle logo. If you want, you may also check the Quest Map for further reference on the Sickle logos. Stand on it, and use your Charcoal on the papyrus. Head to the Western wall section and stand on the logo. Start sketching... and you should be interrupted by a short cutscene involving Vanstrom and the Drakan lords...

After the cutscene, head on to the first sickle sign you saw (The south one) and prepare for battle. I suggest using protect from melee. When you try sketching, Vanstrom will appear! He will attack you, and knock you out after 3-5 turns. Fortunately, a servant of Vanescula Drakan will appear and save you.

Check if your third sketch is done. If not, do it again. Now, attract the attention of a Vyrewatch, mine some Daeyalt, and head to the Hideout again.

Before going in the hideout, go in the purple highlighted house, use your Knife on the portrait, and search it for a key. Use your knife on the fireplace afterwards to uncover a Hidden Message. Read it if you want.

Speak with Safalaan once inside. Tell him you got attacked by Vanstrom, and also you will tell him about Guile. Show him the Hidden Message you found on the fireplace. Now, You will have to find Guile's Lab.

Vampire Statue

Use your knife on the tapestry, then place the ornate key on the Vampyre Statue. The door should now be unlocked. Walk through it. Go down the stairs, and you should be inside the laboratory. Search the rune case for some runes.

Shortcut KeyNow, you will see book on a table... It is out of reach. Cast Telegrab. Head out the laboratory and go back to the Hideout. Give the book to Safalaan, and he will give you a Shortcut Key and a Sealed message for Veliaf.

Now, you can use the shortcuts. Remember those odd painted doors? Those are the doors you can open. Just use your new key on them to open them.

Veliaf Hurtz

Now, make your way back to the Boat and Board it, or teleport, and head back to Veliaf. Show him the sealed message. He will also promote you to Private within the Myreque ranks, and give you a Tome of Experience!


Veliaf gives you a three-charge Tome of Experience.

The Clothes


The sets increase your chance to have the 'Distract' option work more frequently and thus needing to give a 'Bloodtithe' less often. They are made of 3 pieces, Top, trousers and shoes. They look slightly different on females as well. Vyrewatchset costs 650GP A piece while citizen clothes cost 6GP a piece.

Shortcuts


Shortcut KeyWith the shortcut key, the time to reach sector 3 from the start is cut to around a third. There are two shortcut doors, and can be easily identified by the symbol of the key on it


Painted Door


The first allows access to the most northwestern house in sector 1, from which you climb the shelf, crawl under the wall, jump the gap and climb down the ladder. This brings you to a room with a passage heading east, and a door which you unlock during the quest. Pass through the door, and instead of continuing up the next ladder, open the door on the northern side of the next room. Then continue out of the door, and open the second shortcut door, which is one room to the east. Climb the ladder in this room and then climb the shelf. You are now back on the original route, but much closer to the end. Climb down the next shelf, jump across three gaps, and then descend the staircase. You are now in sector 3!

Runescape Quest Start: Begin by reading the signpost near the Hair of the Dog Tavern in Canifis.


Runescape Skills: 20 Crafting, 25 Thieving, and the ability to defeat a level 51 monster.


Quests: Restless Ghost and Priest in Peril.


What You Need: An Amulet of Ghostspeak, Spade, about 50gp, a Needle, 5 Thread, 3 Bronze Wires and a Silver Bar.


Optional Skills: 33 Magic (for Telekinetic Grab).


Optional Items: 3 Air Runes and 1 Law Rune.




Getting Started


First off, read the signpost near the Hair of the Dog Tavern located in Canifis, which Fenkenstrainhappens to be advertising a job. Now head along the road northeast of town until you find a large castle. Speak to Dr. Fenkenstrain and ask him what job he's asking about. Describe yourself as 'braindead,' and that your greatest skill is 'grave-digging.' He'll say that you need to find 4 dead body parts, including a pair of arms and legs, a torso and a head.

The Body Parts


Now speak to the Gardener Ghost in the room to the north, with your Amulet of GardenerGhostspeak on and ask him about his head. He says that it was chopped off, and he will eventually follow you into the woods to show you where it happened.


headLeave the castle and head south, past the dead trees, and then head southeast into the Haunted Woods until you reach Ed Lestwit's grave marker. You'll find various creatures here, including level 61 and 72 Vampires, and level 52 Leeches. You can also speak to the ghost to see which way to walk. When you find the grave, just Dig with your Spade until you find a Decapitated Head.

Star amuletHead back to the castle and go up the northwest staircase. Inside the nearby room is a Bookcase, which you can search for "The Joy of Gravedigging" to get a Marble Amulet. On the east side of this floor is another Bookcase, which you can search for "Handy Maggot Avoidance Techniques" to obtain an Obsidian Amulet. Use the 2 pieces together to form a Star Amulet.

Now leave the castle again, but this time follow the path to a small graveyard to the southeast. Use the Star Amulet with the Memorial to the far east, and then Push it to find a crypt.

ExperimentFollow along the path into a room of Experiments, and kill the level 51 Experiment that appears to be both Wolf and Human. Pick up the Cavern Key that it drops and continue northwest along the twisty path until you come across a gate. Unlock it with the key and head up the ladder, to find yourself on a small island with 3 memorials to the north. Dig in front of each of them to receive a pair of LegsLegs, ArmsArms , and a TorsoTorso.


Just Add Lightning


Push the Memorial to the south and make your way back through the cavern, to the Hair of the Dog Tavern. Talk to Roavar and ask for something to eat. Buy the Pickled Brain for 50gp (or cast Telekinetic Grab on the Pickled Brain on the nearby table), and use it with the Decapitated Head. Bring everything back to Dr. Fenkenstrain, who now needs a Needle and 5 Thread to sew the parts together.

After he sews the body up, he determines that he needs lightning to bring it to life. Talk to the Gardener Ghost again, and ask him about the Key to the Shed, which he gladly gives to you. Search the nearby Pile of Canes for 3 Garden Canes, and then search the Cupboard in the small room for a Garden Brush. Use each of the canes with the brush (with 3 Bronze Wires in your Backpack) to make an Extended Brush.


ConductorHead upstairs, and use the brush with the Fireplace in the small room to the west where you found the Marble Amulet. You'll get a Conductor Mouldconductor mould, which can be used to make a Conductor by using a Silver Bar with a Furnace with the mould in your backpack. The nearest Furnace is located in Port Phasmatys, but if you don't have any Ectotokens, head over to the one in Al Kharid. Once you have the Conductor, bring it upstairs and go up the southern-most ladder. Use it with the Lightning Conductor to attract the lightning.

It's Alive...


MonsterHead back to Dr. Fenkenstrain, who now needs you to kill the monster that he created, and he gives you a Tower Key. Head upstairs, go through the gate in the center of the room and climb the ladder, where you'll find Fenkenstrain's Monster. Talk to him, who wants you to stop Dr. Fenkenstrain's evil work. Now just pickpocket the Doctor to obtain a Ring of Charos and complete the quest.
