Runescape Dungeon Guides: Smoke Dungeon

The smoke Dungeon, located west of Pollnivneach, is a big part of the Desert Treasure Quest, and it is also a good place to train on Fire giants. There are lots of things within the Smoke Dungeon, but some are unknown. It is famous for being the home of the Dust Devils and is also home to one of the monsters you have to fight during the Desert Treasure Quest.

Getting There

The Smoke Dungeon is situated in the Kharidian Desert South of Al Kharid. The quickest way to get there is to take the Magic Carpet from the Shanty Pass to Pollnivneach then run to the Dungeon.

Location of the smokey well

To enter just go to the Smokey Well and chose to Climb-down, but make sure that you are wearing a Face Mask (level 10 Slayer required); otherwise you will die fairly quickly.

Climb down Smokey Well

Inside the Dungeon

As said in the first paragraph, there are things lurking in the depths of this dungeon that few know about. The things hidden within this dungeon are Fire Giants. Fire Giants are often killed in the Waterfall Dungeon which is normally very crowded, but within the depths of the Smoke Dungeon are several Fire Giants. Four of these Giants are all in a room together which make it the best place to Melee Fire Giants outside the Wilderness.

Fire giants

The Smoke Dungeon is also the best place in Runescape to kill Pyrefiends because it is nearer to a bank than the Fremennik Slayer Caves.

Desert Treasure

The Smoke Dungeon is home to Fareed who you must kill during the Desert Treasure Quest to obtain the Diamond of Smoke. To be able to get the key to enter the room he is in you must light the Torches situated in each corner of the dungeon by using a Tinderbox with them.

A torch

You can get the key to enter the room with Fareed from the Burnt Chest which is in the room in the center of the dungeon along with four Fire Giants that will attack you.

Leaving

To leave you must climb up the rope where you entered or teleport out.

Climb up rope

Inhabitants

There are monsters for everybody in this dungeon that range from level 35 to level 93 with level 65 Slayer required to kill them.

  • Fire Elementals - Fire Elementals are level 35 and are situated around the dungeon, but with a high density near the Standing Torches.

    Fire elemental
  • Pyrefiends - Pyrefiends are level 43 and require 30 Slayer to kill. They attack with a Magic based attack so if you are fighting them wear Dragonhide Armour. They are positioned all over the dungeon.

    Pyrefiend
  • Fire Giants - The secret ingredient. Fire Giants are situated mainly in the room with the Burnt Chest, but there are also a few at the East end of the dungeon.

    Fire giant
  • Dust Devils - The Smoke Dungeon is the only home of the Dust Devil. They are level 93 and require 65 Slayer to kill. The Dust Devil is famous due to the fact that it can drop a Dragon Chainmail although there is about a 1 in 10,000 chance of this happening. They are all situated in the West end of the dungeon.

Runescape Dungeon Guides: Paterdomus Dungeon

Written By GrandTheftGamer

Special Thanks to Dran Rider, kevinptn99, sirez white

The Temple Dungeon plays a major role in the Priest in Peril, Nature Spirit, and In Aid of the Myreque quests. It is not very big, but holds something of value to players who have completed the In Aid of the Myreque quest. You have to have completed the Priest in Peril quest to get into the dungeon.

Getting There

There are two ways in getting to the dungeon. The first one is by going east of Varrock, past the wooden gate and then north of the Temple. The second way is by taking the path west of Canifis. This is all shown in the map below.

Routes to the dungeon

The trapdoor entrance to the dungeon using the route from Varrock will be under a small concrete building of sorts, which is shown below.

The entrance from Varrock

From the Canifis route, you go across a bridge and then there's a trapdoor. That is the other side of the dungeon, and this entrance is also known as the Holy Barrier.

The entrance from Canifis

Inside the Dungeon

Starting off from the Varrock route entrance, you will find the Temple Guardian (level 30) who you have to kill during the Priest in Peril quest, therefore you won't be able to attack it after the quest.

The Temple guardian

Just past the beast, there is a gate to move on further down the dungeon.

A gate

Going past the gate and through the tunnel will be a well, which is used in the In Aid of the Myreque quest. Circling the well are some monuments. These are used during the Priest in Peril quest. The well is also used to make Rods of Ivandis: an effective weapon against Vampyres. With a rope in your backpack, use a Silvthrill Rod on the well to create a Rod of Ivandis.

The well, leading to the River Salve

Moving on past the well is a gate to Drezel.

Another gate

The Nature Spirit quest starts here, as you speak to Drezel about the quest. He also plays a major role in the Priest in Peril and In Aid of the Myreque quest.

That's Drezel!

Just to the left of him in that image is a trapdoor, which leads to a library that is used in the In Aid of the Myreque quest.

Past Drezel is the Holy Barrier, which is the entrance to the Mort Myre Swamp, and the end of the dungeon.

Runescape Dungeon Guides: Ourania Cave

Ourania Cave contains the most unique Runecrafting altar in the game. At this altar it is possible to create any non combination rune without the need of any talisman or tiara. The runes you craft are completely random and unpredictable but, the very nature of this altar allows you to craft runes that you do not have the minimum Runecrafting level to create otherwise. There is also a bank in this cave which has a fee of 20 runes per use. If you use this cave to Runecraft you will get fast experience but not make as much cash as you would if you made runes the traditional way (e.g. Natures through the Abyss).

Getting There

Routes to the ourania cavern

1) Ourania Teleport

Ourania teleportTo use this spell, you need level 71 magic and must have also completed Lunar Diplomacy. Also, before this spell can be used you must visit Baba Yaga in her chicken house in the northern part of Lunar Isle with the Lunar Spellbook equipped. When you are there, she will tell you a brief story and you’ll gain access to the spell. The spell requires 2 Astral Runes, 1 Law Rune and 6 Earth Runes to cast. This spell will teleport you to where all of the colored lines meet on the above map.

2) The Spirit Tree Network

Spirit treeIf you have completed the Tree Gnome Village quest then you can use the Spirit Tree network to teleport to the Khazard Battlefield. From there head west following the yellow line on the above map.

3) The Fairy Rings

Dramen staffIf you have completed A Fairy Tale Part 2: Cure a Queen then you may use the Fairy Ring network to teleport to the south of Tree Gnome Village using the code CIQ. You will need a Dramen Staff or a Lunar Staff to do this. From where you appear head north until you cross a bridge and then north west until you reach the entrance. The line on the map representing this path is red.

4) Teleport to Ardougne

Ardougne teleportIf you have completed Plague City and have at least level 51 magic you can teleport to Ardougne with 2 Law runes and 2 Water runes. From here, walk West until you cross a bridge. From here head south west until you see the Spirit Tree. Now just head West until you're there. The light blue line represents this route.

5) Teleport to Castle Wars

Duel RingWith a Ring of Dueling, teleport to the Castle Wars lobby. Head outside and then north until you cross two bridges. Now head north east until you have passed the Observatory Village. Now just head north until you're there. The green line represents this route.

6) Take a Charter Boat

CoinsFor a cost of up to 3,200 coins you can charter a ship to take you to Port Khazard from any other charter ship in Runescape. From Port Khazard you should head north west until you're there. The orange line represents this path.

7) Walk

BootsJust walk to one of the above locations and follow the instructions from there.

The Entrance

The entrance to the ourania cave

The entrance is right next to the Chaos Altar. If you ever need to recharge your prayer you can always come here and pray. Once you have descended the ladder you will be inside a large cavern. Inside you will see Eniola wandering around with his large backpack.

Eniola

Eniola is a representative from the Bank of RuneScape who was especially hired by the Zamorak Magical Institute to stand here and provide banking services to the Zamorak crafters. You will see the Crafters walking from the Altar to Eniola and then back again. He has been instructed to provide his services to you for a cost of 20 runes for every time you wish to access your bank account. Please note that this rune cost cannot be paid for using an elemental staff or combination runes.

Pay bank charge with...

All 20 runes must be of a single type. The cheapest way to do this is to carry a stack of several hundred body runes at all times within the cave. If you need more body runes you can easily buy them in large quantities for 16 coins each from rune shops such as Aubury in Varrock or Betty in Port Sarim. Another method to get masses of cheap runes is to buy bodies, minds and basic elemental runes off of other players for 10 to 15 coins each.

Map of the Dungeon

A map of the ourania cave

Inside the Dungeon

There are two paths to the altar from the entrance. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

The Short Route

Taking the path that goes directly south is the shortest of the two and therefore, will allow you to craft runes faster. The disadvantage of using it is it is inhabited by aggressive monsters ranging from level 37 to 85. Between them all three attack styles are used. The monsters that use melee are Cave Lizards and Zamorak Warriors. There are also Zamorak Rangers who use ranged combat and Zamorak Mages who use offensive magic. You don't have to worry about the Zamorak Crafters as they are not aggressive but do use melee when attacked. This cave is a multi combat area so the enemies will pile you. It is recommended to find a busy world where these enemies will have multiple targets for their attacks. The current unofficial world for using the Ourania Altar is world 84.

If you wish to take the short path then you will require some protection from the monsters that will attack you. Some recommended equipment is:

Recommended equipment

  • Helmet: Helm of Neitiznot, Proselyte/Initiate Sallet, Berserker Helm or Warrior Helm
  • Necklace: Amulet of Fury, Amulet of Glory, Amulet of Power or a Holy Symbol (if using prayer)
  • Body: The best dragonhide body you can wear or Proselyte/Initiate Hauberk
  • Legs: The best dragonhide chaps you can wear or Proselyte/Initiate Cuisse
  • Feet: Boots of Lightness
  • Weapon: Anything good for defending yourself or an elemental staff (If using a teleport method, see below)
  • Shield: A prayer boosting book, Obsidian Shield, Rune Kiteshield or Rune Defender
  • Hands: Penance Gloves, Recipe for Disaster Gloves, Combat Bracelet or Dragonhide Vamps
  • Ring: Any but, a Ring of Life is recommended
  • Cape: Spottier Cape, Spotted Cape, Fire Cape, Obsidian Cape, Skill Cape, Legends' Cape or Team Cape.

If you wish to use prayer it is recommended to use protect from mage as the mages hit the most when you have the recommended equipment. If you need to recharge your prayer there is a Chaos Altar right next to the entrance of the cave when you exit.

The Long Route

This path is the one that runs to the south east over the lava. It loops back and forth and is about two times as long as the safe route. The advantage of it is that there is no enemies here at all making it the path of choice for lower leveled characters. At the end of the path there is a crack in the wall that you will need to squeeze through to get to and from the altar. There is no agility level requirement to squeeze through the crack.

The ZMI Altar

The Ourania Altar is the most unique Runecrafting altar in the game. It allows you to craft any non combination rune without use of a talisman or tiara. The advantages and disadvantages of its use are listed below

The ourania altar

Advantages:

  • It is possible to create any rune here without a talisman or tiara.

You will craft runes before you have the required Runecrafting level to make them the normal way.
  • This altar gives twice the normal amount of experience for every rune that you craft.
  • It is the closest Altar to a bank.

Disadvantages:

  • The chance for a certain rune to be crafted is completely dependent on the crafter's level. For example, A level 35 Runecrafter will get mostly Cosmic, Chaos and Astral runes but, will also get a few elemental runes, minds, bodies as well as the occasional nature, death, blood and soul rune. In other words, a very low level Runecrafter will very rarely get a blood whereas a very high level Runecrafter will get several bloods and the occasional elemental rune.
  • You always get only one rune per essence regardless of Runecrafting level.
  • The bank requires you to donate 20 runes every time you wish to access your account.
  • There are several aggressive enemies along the short path to the altar.
  • You must use pure essence.

Inhabitants

As mentioned earlier, there are five different monsters inhabiting this dungeon. They are considered to be good training as they have low attack and strength levels so they won't hit often and won't hit for more than 9 damage. They have high defense so they will take a little longer to kill than other monsters of their level but do have good drops for their level. The monsters are listed below along with their combat style and their drops.

Methods of Crafting

Method One

The easiest is to run back and forth from the altar to the bank. When using this method it is advised to always have one stack of cheap runes so you won't be locked out of your bank account. Bodies are recommended because they are cheap and readily available.

Method Two

The next method is to run to the altar and then use Ourania teleport to get back to the entrance. This method is faster then the walking method but uses more runes. You will also require a stack of runes at all times so you can pay the banker.

Method Three

The next method is run to the altar, teleport to another bank such as Castle Wars with a Ring of Dueling, Edgeville with an Amulet of Glory or teleport to Moonclan. Once you have banked you must use Ourania teleport to get back to the altar. The advantage of this method is you don't have to pay the banking fee but you will use more runes teleporting. Also, if someone is using the Teleport Group to Moonclan spell you will occasionally get a free ride to Moonclan

Runescape Dungeon Guides: Mage Arena Dungeon

Article From runescape.salmoneus.net,you can get more Runescape Dungeon Guides .Want to buy Runescape Power leveling

Written By Neo Avatars

Special Thanks To Hawk

The Mage Arena Dungeon may be small, but it is used a lot due to the fact that it is the only Bank in the Wilderness. It can be accessed by pulling the lever in level 55 Wilderness. The arena is also the setting for the Mage Arena.

Getting There

The Mage Arena entrance is found in level 55 Wilderness, a short distance past the gate separating Freeplay and Members Wilderness. You can either walk the entire way (not recommended), or pull the lever in the house in the northwest part of East Ardougne to be teleported to level 51 Wilderness. You'll find yourself to the east of the arena.

Now just pull the lever inside of the house near the northern wall of the arena to be teleported to the dungeon!

Inside the Dungeon

There are two rooms in the dungeon the first one has the Bank and a Rune Shop in. While in the second room you can buy the God Staves and get the God Capes.

Bank Room

This is where you appear when you pull the lever in the Wilderness. There is a Rune Shop that will stock a small number of all the main Runes used in combat for low prices, a Bank and you can start the Mage Arena Mini-Game in this room too.

Rune Shop

To access the shop you must talk to Lundail or chose to Trade with him. The Shop is quite often out of Runes, but when there are Runes in stock they are cheap. The Elemental Runes never cost more than 4gp.
