Construction Help

==>All Runescape Guide List<==

==>Runescape Construction Guide List<==

Most people see construction as not being a cheap skill. Seeing it is easy to spend over 150mill on getting to level 99. In this guide I will show you three main ways to get from level 1 to level 99 and how much money it will cost you to get there.

Tips

  • If you are making your own planks from logs hire the butler at level 40 for 5,000gp. After awhile he will ask for another 5,000gp to make him keep working, pay him as it will save major time rather than running to the sawmill.

Talk to butler

  • Build your workshop next to your portal to get to your workbench quickly.

Work at Workbench

  • If you want to get fast teaks and mahogany logs move your house to Brimhaven (level 40 construction required).
  • If you want to get to your bank the fastest move your house to Yanille (level 50 construction required).

Get There Fast

Levels 1 to 16: Buy 500 iron nails and 100 planks then make crude wooden chairs.

Level 16: Build a Workshop for 10k.

Levels 16 to 32: Buy 230 oak planks (no nails needed from this point on) and build pluming stands.

Level 32: Build an oak workbench (5 oak planks).

Levels 32 to 38: Build carved oak tables at your work bench. You will need around 235 oak planks.

Levels 38 to 46: Build teak tables, at your workbench, which you will need around 420 teak planks.

Level 46: Build a steel framed workbench (6 oak logs and 4 steel bars).

Levels 46 to 52: Build carved teak tables at your steel framed workbench. You will use around 620 teak planks.

Levels 52 to 99: Build mahogany tables at your steel framed workbench. You will use 92,140 mahogany planks.

Level 99: Go build your house.

Total Supplies

  • 500 iron nails
  • 100 planks
  • 510 oak planks
  • 4 steel bars
  • 1,040 teak planks
  • 92,140 mahogany planks

Mining Limestone

Limestone can be mined just west of the Morytania Temple. Mining a limestone gives 26.5 exp and 6 exp when crafted into a brick.

Mine Oile of rock

There are three main ways to get to the limestone mine:

1. First, Walk or run from Varrock to the mine and back again (no requirements).

2. Second, Walk or run from the Canifis bank through the underground temple and to the mine and back again, same speed as Varrock way (Priest in Peril Quest required).

3. Third, Walk or run to the mine then either Ancient Magicks (Desert Treasure Quest required) teleport to Canifis and/or use the agility short cut (65 Agility required, agility potions do not work) to get to the Canifis bank and back again.

Construction - FAQ

==>All Runescape Guide List<==

==>Runescape Construction Guide List<==

How do I buy a house?

To buy a house, you will need to visit the Estate Agent, found in his offices in north-east Varrock, opposite the church.

Where is my house?

The location of your house depends largely on your Construction level. To start with, your house will be in Rimmington. For a fee, you can later ask the Estate Agent to move your house. For maps of the exact location, see the Estate agent section of the NPCs page.

Can I die in my house?

Yes. If you die in your house, through poison or being attacked by monsters while in challenge mode, etc., you will respawn outside your house portal and retain all of your items.

How do I change to building mode?

To change to building mode, you can select it from the 'House options' found under your controls tab. Aside from this, when you enter your house portal, select 'Go to your house (building mode)'.

How do I build items?

To build items, you must first build or enter a room in building mode. In building mode there are ghostly white hotspots. If you right-click and select 'Build' you can select what you would like to build on that hotspot if you have the required Construction level, tools and materials.

How do I get materials?

To start with, you will need planks and nails. You can get logs converted into planks from the Sawmill Operator, found east of Varrock, near the Lumber Yard. The Sawmill Operator will also sell useful items such as cloth, and, most importantly, a saw to help you begin.

When your Construction level advances, you will be able to use marble blocks, magic stones and gold leaf, sold by the Stonemason in Keldagrim.

How many rooms can I build?

There is a limit of thirty rooms, but these can be built up to two stories high, or even underground! The number of rooms you can build depends on your Construction level:

Construction levelNumber of rooms
120
5021
5622
6223
6824
7425
8026
8627
9228
9629
9930

What is challenge mode?

Challenge mode activates any monsters and traps in your oubliette/dungeon (if you have one). People in your house can then try to navigate a dungeon - if you have built one - and get to your treasure room.

What happens if I drop items in my house?

You cannot drop items in building mode. If you drop items in normal mode, they will be on the ground and will disappear after a certain amount of time as usual. If you wish to change into building mode and have items on the ground they will be destroyed. You will be prompted if this happens, but make sure you mean to drop items if you do.

How do I go to a friend's house?

You can go to a friend's house by going to their house portal location and clicking 'Go to friend's house'. Enter the character's name and, if they are in their house, you will be allowed in. Some people choose to block entry, please see the bottom of the basics page for more information on portal control.

Can I use my house as a bank?

No, houses cannot be used as banks. You can, however, store a number of items in your costume room.

Can I have more than one house?

No, it is not possible to have more than one house.

Construction - Extra Features

==>All Runescape Guide List<==

==>Runescape Construction Guide List<==

Training Hints and Tips

  • You can use the 'House teleport' (level 40 Magic) to get to your house more quickly.

  • Use your Construction level to your advantage: higher level servants can help you more quickly.

  • Moving house (speak with the Estate Agent) can help if you are running to banks...

Heraldy and Family crests

The workshop contains the heraldry hotspot. With the ability to paint your family crest on steel or rune full helms, you can wear your crest into battle. If you upgrade this to a shield easel, you can paint your crest on a kiteshield! If your Construction level is high enough, you can even make a large banner of your crest to carry around.
[image]

Barrows armour repairs

The repair bench, also found in the workshop, is very useful. Basic benches can repair broken staffs and arrows, and if you change this to a whetstone, you can sharpen old rusty swords. If your Construction level allows it, you could even make an armour stand, where you can repair Barrows armour for a reduced cost! The cost depends on your Smithing level: if your Smithing level is 1, the cost will be nearly the same as normal. With 99 Smithing, your repair cost will be practically halved.

Flatpacks

To make flatpacks you will need to construct a workshop and workbench. Here, you can make money from your Construction level. Dependant on the level of your workbench, you can construct flat-packed items. For example, you can use the same materials to make a rocking chair to make a flatpacked version of it with your workbench. You still get the same experience for making the item. You can then sell this item to another player who is unable to make the item, but wants it for their own house. They simply use the flatpacked version with the hotspot.

Crystal Saw

[image]This odd piece of equipment is a combination of elven mystic arts and gnomish ingenuity, given to those adventurers who successfully aid the gnomes in the Eyes of Glouphrie.

By having the crystal saw in your inventory you will be able to construct furnishings in your house with a Construction level up to 3 levels below that which you would normally require. If you have level 57 Construction, for example, you will be able to construct level 60 furnishings such as gilded four-poster beds - provided you have necessary materials, of course.

As the power of the crystal is drained slightly in doing this, you will only be able to construct 28 items in this way before the saw reverts to an uncharged crystal seed and it will need to be recharged.

This bonus can be stacked on top of bonuses from tea or Evil Dave's Stew of DOOM. Obviously, if you are lucky you may use the stew to get a massive +9 to your Construction (though only on furnishings) - on the other hand, you may be unlucky and the Evil Stew of DOOM may stack with the saw to give you -3...

Please note that this does not apply to building rooms, placing monsters or growing plants, as they do not require a saw.

See the Crystal Item Guide for further information.

Construction - Servants

==>All Runescape Guide List<==

==>Runescape Construction Guide List<==

The Servants' Guild

[image: location of the servants' guild]The Servants' Guild is found in East Ardougne, just north of the central market. Here, you can speak with the Master servant who will outline what servants can do for you.

There are five servants, each will provide different services for you. If you want a better servant you may notice that you will require a higher level of Construction. Services servants can provide range from basic cooking right up to visiting the bank and bringing you items to help you build, or even going to the sawmill to convert logs into planks!

You will need to pay a cost to hire a servant, and when they request wages, you will need to pay them to continue their service. You can dismiss your servant at any time.

If you have visitors to your house you can have your servant visit them and welcome them in. The servant can also be used in the dining room to make a meal for each person at the table.

The food that is prepared is based upon the level of servant you have hired and the availiable furniture in your kitchen.

The Servants

Please note: In order to hire a servant, you will need 2 bedrooms with beds, the second bedroom being for your servant.

Construction - Treasure Room

==>All Runescape Guide List<==

==>Runescape Construction Guide List<==

[image]

Introduction

When you reach level 75 Construction you will find yourself able to build the treasure room, which holds a reward for players who complete your dungeon, but it is not as simple as it may seem to get into the chest...

Key features

The key feature and central point to this room is the rewards chest. This contains the reward for players who make it to this room during challenge mode.

You will need to construct a 'boss' character in the monster space who will defend this room and chest aggressively. After this boss is conquered, the first person to open the chest will receive the prize.

The hotspots

[image: treasure room hotspots]

As shown in the above picture, there are six types of hotspot in the treasure room that you can construct on:

  • Monster

  • Treasure

  • Decoration (shields)

  • Decoration

  • Lighting

  • Door
